Job summary

Serco is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager for Clarence Correctional Centre in Lavadia, NSW. You will lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, compliant and efficient facilities management services across the Centre.

Reporting to the Business Services Manager, you will oversee asset management, maintenance delivery, contractor performance, capital planning, budgets and safety, building a high‑performing culture grounded in accountability and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading facilities, maintenance, asset management or similar in a large, regulated environment.
  • Proven ability to coach and develop multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Sound governance, risk management and workplace safety knowledge.
  • Ability to make informed decisions in complex environments.

Make an impact at SercoAs the Facilities Manager at Clarence Correctional Centre, you will lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for delivering safe, compliant and efficient facilities management services across the Centre.

Reporting to the Business Services Manager, you will provide strategic leadership across facilities operations, asset management, maintenance delivery, contractor performance, capital planning and compliance.

You will lead a team of experienced supervisors and subject matter experts, building a high-performing culture based on teamwork, accountability, empowerment and safety. Through strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and financial management, you will ensure the Facilities function delivers sustainable outcomes that support the safe and effective operation of the Centre.

About Clarence Correctional CentreClarence Correctional Centre is Australia’s largest and most advanced correctional facility. Located in Lavadia, approximately 12.5 kilometres south-east of Grafton, the Centre is designed to support rehabilitation, reduce reoffending and help people successfully reintegrate into the community.

As Facilities Manager, You Will

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership across the Facilities function
  • Lead, coach and develop a multidisciplinary team of supervisors and facilities professionals
  • Oversee preventative and reactive maintenance programs across the Centre
  • Lead whole-of-life asset management, including lifecycle planning, capital works and repair-versus-replace decisions
  • Manage contractor and supplier relationships, ensuring performance, safety, compliance and value for money
  • Manage operational and capital budgets, resource allocation and financial risks and opportunities
  • Drive performance against contractual and operational key performance indicators
  • Ensure compliance with contractual, statutory, regulatory, environmental, safety and security requirements
  • Provide trusted advice and evidence-based recommendations to operational leaders and stakeholders
  • Lead facilities projects, capital works and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Build strong relationships across the Centre and with contractors, service providers and external agencies

About YouYou are an experienced and adaptable leader who can balance immediate operational demands with longer-term strategic priorities. You bring strong professional judgement, commercial awareness and the ability to build trusted relationships across a complex stakeholder environment.

To Be Successful In This Role You Will Have

  • Experience leading facilities, maintenance, asset management or a similar operational function within a large, complex or highly regulated environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams through supervisors, frontline leaders or managers
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to coach, develop and empower others
  • Experience managing contractors and service providers within a performance-based environment
  • Experience managing operational and capital budgets, business planning and resource allocation
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
  • Sound knowledge of governance, risk management, compliance and workplace safety
  • The ability to make informed decisions in a complex and changing operational environment
  • Relevant qualifications in facilities management, property management, engineering, building services, business management or a related discipline will be highly regarded
  • Relevant trade qualifications and/or demonstrated experience leading facilities, maintenance or asset management functions will also be highly regarded
  • A valid driver’s licence

This role requires the successful completion of a National Police Check and employee authorisation and clearance by Corrective Services NSW.
