Job summary

NSW Health Westmead Hospital ICU is seeking a Registered Nurse for a temporary full-time position in the Intensive Care Unit. You will join a collaborative team, manage complex patient care, and expand your critical-care skills in a quaternary hospital setting.

You'll provide evidence-informed nursing care, participate in a rotating 7-day roster, and work with multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver high-quality, person-centred care to diverse patients. AHPRA registration is required.

Qualifications

• Current authority to practise as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
• Recent Intensive Care experience or relevant acute/critical-care experience.
• Ability to work a rotating 7-day roster.
• Strong interpersonal, organisational and time-management skills.
• Computer literacy and confidence using health information systems.

What you’ll be doing

As a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit, you’ll provide safe, person-centred and evidence-informed nursing care while working closely with patients, families and the broader healthcare team. Key responsibilities will be to:

• Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate nursing care for patients with complex healthcare needs.
• Coordinate and prioritise clinical care across a busy service while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
• Communicate effectively with patients, carers and multidisciplinary team members to support positive health outcomes.
• Document assessments, care plans, progress and referrals accurately using relevant clinical information systems.
• Contribute to evidence-based practice, quality improvement, education and a supportive learning environment.

Selection Criteria

• Recent experience in Intensive Care environment or relevant experiences in an acute/ COU inpatient area as deemed appropriate by WSLHD
• Ability to work a rotating 7 day roster to meet clinical demands of busy quaternary Intensive Care Service
• Effective interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients
• Excellent time management and organisation skills with attention to detail
• Evidence of computer literacy and understanding of relevant health related information systems
