Job summary

Sydney Local Health District is hiring a Registered Nurse at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney for a permanent, full-time position. You will deliver evidence-informed nursing care, support post-surgical patients, and work within a fast-paced team to promote optimal health outcomes.

Ideal candidates will hold current AHPRA registration, demonstrate critical thinking, engage in ongoing professional development, and be able to work a 7-day rotating roster.

Qualifications

• Current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
• Understanding of evidence informed practice and critical thinking.
• Evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills, and willingness to apply and share professional expertise with colleagues.
• Ability to work a 7 day rotating roster.

Responsibilities

• Care of the post-surgical patient.
• Education provision to patients on how to manage drains and catheters in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Coordinate and re-prioritise patient care for better outcomes during shifts.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.

About the Role

In this role the daily work will include care of the post-surgical patient, education provision to patients on how to manage their drains and catheters in both the inpatient and outpatient environment, providing care and compassion to those who have experienced major life changes through the surgeries performed, coordinating and re-prioritising patient care for better outcomes multiple times throughout a shift and working in a fast-paced nursing team. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of patient centred; evidence informed nursing care that promotes identified health outcomes. The Registered Nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
