North West Queensland is seeking a Regional Waste Behaviour Change Coordinator for a full-time hybrid role based in North West Queensland, with the option to work from home for part of the week. This role coordinates the delivery of regional programs that encourage waste reduction, recycling, and sustainable resource use across NWQROC member councils.

Qualifications

• Proven stakeholder engagement experience in environment or waste management.
• Understanding of regional waste management challenges and policy context.
• Experience managing external grants or contracts.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills under tight deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Proficient IT literacy with advanced software skills.
• Ability to work independently and remotely, with reliable internet.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate delivery of regional waste reduction and recycling programs across NWQROC councils.
• Support sustainable resource use initiatives and community behaviour change.
• Liaise with councils, stakeholders and contractors to implement programs.
• Attend/host online meetings and coordinate scheduling using Teams.
• Travel locally as required with costs reimbursed per policy.

Qualifications

• Qualifications and/or experience in stakeholder engagement, waste management or environment management.
• Understanding of regional waste management challenges.
• Experience in the management of external grants or contracts.
• Demonstrated organisational, time management and prioritisation skills with a proven ability to balance competing workloads and deliver within deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Excellent standard of IT literacy and advanced computer and software skills.
• Ability to work independently, flexibly and remotely - as needed.
• Highspeed and reliable internet connection to host Teams meetings.
• Minimum of Queensland C class provisional drivers’ licence.

Please note - Depending on location within the region, the applicant may be required to utilise their personal vehicle for travel to travel ports and/or site. All costs will be reimbursed as per the ATO motor vehicle and car expense rates.

A discussion on the use of personal laptop and mobile for business purposes will also be had.

Remuneration

• Contracted position to 30 June 2028.
• Remuneration - Up to $90,000/annum plus Super.
