Job summary

Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council is seeking a dynamic Waste Education and Communications leader to drive sustainability across the community. The role focuses on leading a team and delivering high-impact education programs.

You will plan, implement, and review communications plans within the Waste Strategy, develop school and local event programs, and promote strong customer outcomes. Flexible work arrangements are considered to support work-life balance.

• Experience in community education or marketing required.

• Strong presentation, facilitation and written communication skills.

Job description

Position Number: 6577 Location: Queanbeyan

The Package: $99,242 - $109,664.36 gross per annum + 12% super. (Evaluated as Grade 14 of the QPRC Salary System 2026) and Award increases of 4% in 2027-28 and 4% in 2028-2029.

Full-time - 35 hours per week. Flexible work arrangements will be considered.

In this role you will:

• Lead and support the Waste Education team to deliver innovative, high-performing communications and education programs across all sectors of the community.
• Plan, implement, and review communications and education plans for key projects and programmes in Council's Waste Strategy.
• Develop and deliver strategically focussed waste education programmes for schools, community groups, and local events.
• Promote sustainability and enhance customer outcomes.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has exceptional communication skills.
• Holds relevant qualifications or substantial experience in Community Education, Marketing and Communications, Behaviour Change, Waste Management, Sustainability, or Environmental Disciplines.
• Demonstrates strong leadership skills to manage a customer-focused team alongside excellent presentation, facilitation, and written communication abilities.
