Job summary

Scenic Rim Regional Council in Beaudesert, QLD, is seeking a Waste Services Officer for the Waste Operations Casual Pool. You will manage operational duties at transfer stations across the region, directing the public on waste placement and ensuring loads meet acceptance criteria.

Working at multiple sites, you’ll maintain safety, collect tipping fees, and support rosters with weekend work. Essential are LL/LB licences, white card, a C Class licence, and experience with heavy equipment.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment in a waste/industrial environment.
• Familiarity with waste transfer stations and associated safety procedures.
• Current licences and construction-industry safety cards are required.

Responsibilities

• Direct the public on correct waste and recyclables placement.
• Ensure transfer station surrounds are kept tidy and safe.
• Maintain safety by preventing access to restricted areas and discouraging scavenging.
• Collect tipping fees as directed.

About this opportunity

As the Waste Services Officer, you will be required to undertake the operational responsibilities of Council's waste transfer stations and surrounds. Work will be required to be undertaken at any of Council's nominated landfill and waste transfer stations within the region.

Additionally, you’ll also …

• Direct the public on the correct placement of refuse and recyclable materials and the assessment of loads as per Council's waste acceptance criteria.
• Ensure the waste transfer station surrounds are maintained in a tidy manner and refuse is disposed of in the correct location. This includes all areas within the waste transfer station bounds, access roads and adjoining properties.
• Maintain safety on the waste transfer station, ensuring the public do not enter restricted areas, or attempt to scavenge.
• Collect tipping fees in accordance with Council procedures or as directed by the Senior Supervisor Resource Recovery Operations.

About you…

• Current Front-End Loader / Backhoe (LL and LB Licence).
• Must hold a current card for 30215 Qld - Course in General Safety Induction (Construction Industry) or
• National White Card (CPCCOHS1001A).
• Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle under a C Class Licence.
• Experience or familiarity with the waste industry or similar environment.
• Demonstrated substantial experience in the operation of heavy equipment
