Job summary

Barnabas Aid is seeking a Regional Coordinator to grow engagement and support across the State/Region. You will build relationships with churches, Christian organisations, and donors, lead prayer initiatives, and coordinate fundraising events while managing volunteers and campaigns.

Travel will be required, including speaking at events and participating in national and international activities to advance the ministry’s mission.

Job description

Barnabas International is a large family of Christian ministries and charities focused on giving practical support to suffering, abandoned and persecuted Christians around the world. The ministry was founded in 1993, and since then, it has funded projects in more than 100 countries, providing hope and help to millions of our brothers and sisters in Christ. Some of our key projects include supplying food aid, medical supplies, educational and vocational training, Bibles, micro-enterprise, disaster relief, help for victims of violence, and support for pastors and church leaders. Barnabas Aid also provides advocacy for religious freedom, especially for persecuted and suffering Christians.

Barnabas is primarily a Christian ministry and a charity. Employees are expected to subscribe to the Vision, Mission and Value.

The Regional Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing the mission of Barnabas Aid by building and nurturing relationships with churches, Christian organizations, business and community leaders, as well as individual supporters within their State/Region. The role aims to raise awareness, promote prayer, and encourage financial generosity for the persecuted and suffering church, fostering a network of engaged supporters and volunteers expanding the organization’s reach into Christian communities.

The Regional Coordinator will be an ambassador for the ministry and will work within their area to make sure the work of the ministry is understood and supported. There is an expectation that the Regional Coordinator will make at least one trip every two years to a project partner and every week will speak at Churches and other events about the work of Barnabas Aid.

Strategy Implementation and Reporting:

• Develop and execute regional engagement initiatives aligned with organizational goals and strategic plan.
• Monitor and evaluate engagement initiatives, providing regular updates and reports.
• Maintain accurate records of all their engagements and donor activities using our CRM.

Prayer Promotion:

• Host regular prayer meetings (virtual and/or in-person) within their State/Region.
• Either sponsor or organize regional Prayer Breakfasts with church and community leaders.
• Disseminate prayer resources and stay updated on current prayer requests.
• Attend daily organizational devotions in-person or online.

Awareness Raising:

• Speak at churches, schools, conferences, and community events to share Barnabas Aid's mission.
• Collaborate with churches and Christian networks to organize awareness events and campaigns.
• Distribute resources and materials to inform communities about the persecuted church and suffering Christians.
• Network widely and explore potential partnerships.

Income Generation and Encouraging Generosity:

• Cultivate relationships with potential supporters and donors.
• Plan and execute regional fundraising initiatives, including events and campaigns.
• Encourage financial donations, ensuring 'gold standard' donor stewardship.

Volunteer Development and Engagement:

• Recruit train and mentor volunteers to support engagement activities providing resources and regular communication.
• Coordinate volunteer activities to align with regional and organizational strategies.

Community Engagement and Networking:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with church leaders, mission committees, other Christian organizations, community and business groups.
• Collaborate with other Regional Coordinators sharing best practice and coordinating efforts to maximize impact.
• Attend conferences and networking events to expand the ministry’s influence.

Event and International Collaboration:

• Contribute to planning and attend national conferences, festivals, and events.
• Participate in international trips to meet project partners, witness project impact, to assist or lead in auditing a project and share insights with stakeholders.

Operational Flexibility:

• Manage a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and extensive travel.
• Ensure tasks are completed efficiently, including additional assignments as needed.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Professional communicator, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in public speaking.
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong IT Skills including the use of Microsoft suite of products and using CRMs, understanding of file management, navigating operating systems, and using productivity tools.
• Proven experience in community, and/or church engagement, fundraising or related fields.
• Familiarity with digital tools and social media platforms.
• An ability to engage diverse audiences.
• Previous church leadership experience is an advantage.
• Appreciation and understanding of the issues facing the persecuted and suffering church around the world.

• From time to time, additional training, including safeguarding training, may be required.
• The offer of employment will be subject to the appropriate pre-employment checks such as references, qualifications, criminal record checks, and confirmation of eligibility to work in Australia
• Each Regional Coordinator is assigned a State/Region; they will be performance managed on the acquisition and retention of supporters solely in that area. However, from time to time there may be speaking opportunities outside their assigned State/Region which they will be required to participate in.
