Job summary

Central Queensland Radiology (CQR) is part of Integral Diagnostics (IDX Group), with practices across Gladstone, Rockhampton, Yeppoon, and Emerald. We are seeking a friendly Casual Medical Receptionist to join our front desk teams at Gladstone Hospital and our private clinic on Dawson Road.

You will support patients accessing X-ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, and interventional procedures, with shifts between 6:30am and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, and no weekends.

Qualifications

• Customer-facing experience in healthcare or imaging settings.
• Professional, approachable communication both in person and on the phone.
• Knowledge of medical terminology or practice management systems is an advantage.
• Collaborative, proactive attitude with high integrity.
• Detail-oriented with strong confidentiality and patient care focus.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and create a welcoming first impression.
• Manage bookings, billing, and payments (Medicare, health funds, EFTPOS).
• Coordinate with medical wards, referrers, and doctors for appointments and results.
• Handle inpatient procedures and CT injection bookings.
• Participate in staff meetings and ongoing training, ensuring policy compliance.

About the Role

We're looking for a friendly and motivatedCasual Medical Receptionistto join our welcoming front desk teams atGladstone Hospital and our private clinic at Dawson Road.

As the first point of contact, you'll play a vital role in supporting patients accessing a full range of imaging services - fromX-ray, Ultrasound , CT to MRI and Interventional Procedures

Enjoy the flexibility of a casual position with varied Monday to Friday shifts between 6:30am and 6:00pm, with no weekends, making it easier to maintain a great work-life balance.

A Day in the Life

• Greeting patients and creating a welcoming first impression
• Managing bookings, billing, and payments (Medicare, health funds, EFTPOS)
• Working closely with Medical/Surgical wards and our technical team
• Inpatient procedure and CT Injection bookings
• Coordinating with referrers and doctors for appointments and results
• Attending staff meetings and ongoing training sessions
• Maintaining compliance with workplace health & safety and company policies

About You

You'll thrive in this role if you have:

• Previous experience in healthcare reception (Medical Imaging, Dental, Allied Health or similar) - highly regarded
• A professional, approachable, and confident communication style - in person and over the phone
• Knowledge of medical terminology or practice management systems (an advantage)
• A collaborative, proactive attitude and high integrity
• A well-presented and patient-focused approach
• Excellence in customer service delivery in order to exceed patient and referrer expectations.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to show patients care, compassion, and empathy
• Excellent attention to detail to ensure patient confidentiality
• Excellent interpersonal skills to assist in building partnerships and fostering collaborative relationships across the business.
