Job summary

CBCity in Sydney, NSW, is seeking a Team Leader – Rates Operations to lead the Rates Management Team and supervise Senior Rating Officers. The role supports the Coordinator Rates in legislative responsibilities, ensuring compliant, accurate, and efficient rating processes.

You will guide the Rates Management Team, prioritise customer experience, and contribute to long-term financial sustainability while promoting continuous improvement and cross-training.

Qualifications

• Experience in local government rating and revenue functions including rates modelling.
• Proven Rates leadership capability; supervising, developing and motivating a diverse team.
• Ability to interpret and apply Local Government Act 1993 and related legislation.
• Strong financial analysis, forecasting, and long-term planning capabilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop Senior Rating Officers to foster a high-performing team.
• Support with rates modelling, annual levy processes and end-of-year rollovers.
• Oversee production of Rates & Charges Notices, Instalment and Reminders.
• Review and improve policies reflecting industry best practices.
• Collaborate with agencies to fulfil rating obligations and requirements.
• Ensure compliance with Local Government Act and council policies.
• Promote cross-training and continuous improvement within the team.
• Undertake other duties as directed by the Coordinator Rates.
