Job summary

Blacktown City Council is seeking a Senior Rates Officer to ensure rating functions are accurate, compliant and efficient. You will manage rating systems, reconcile valuations, process rates and charges, and oversee debt recovery.

Working with the Chief Rates Officer, you will provide technical guidance, issue notices, review exemptions, and support training while contributing to reporting and system improvements.

Responsibilities

• Manage rating systems and processes and reconcile valuations.
• Process rates and charges and oversee debt recovery matters.
• Complete monthly and end-of-year reporting.
• Investigate complex rating matters and respond to ratepayer enquiries.
• Provide technical guidance to the Rates team and liaise with the Chief Rates Officer.
• Ensure rate and instalment notices are issued accurately and review exemptions.
• Check subdivisions and strata properties are created and levied.
• Identify system improvements and document procedures.
• Support staff training and ensure compliance with legislation.
