Job summary

Latrobe City Council in Morwell is seeking a Senior Rates Services Officer to manage complex rating matters and support and develop colleagues. The role focuses on loyalty to legislation, accuracy of rating databases and delivering high-quality service to ratepayers.

The ideal candidate has strong experience in rating systems, property rating processes and interpretation of relevant legislation, with a collaborative, data-driven approach. Hybrid working with 3 days in the office is offered.

Qualifications

• Qualification in business, property or accounting with relevant experience.
• Knowledge of Local Government Act 1989, Local Government Act 2020 and Valuation of Land Act 1960, or related legislation.
• Extensive knowledge and experience in ratings systems and property rating processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex rating matters and ensure compliance with legislation and Council policies.
• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of Council's property and rating databases.
• Assess and administer rate rebates, relief applications and specialized rating processes.
• Provide specialist advice, support and training to colleagues and internal stakeholders.
• Prepare reports and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the service.
