Job summary

Alstom in Brisbane invites applications for a Yard Master to oversee the safe and efficient movement, allocation and positioning of the NGR rollingstock fleet. You will coordinate fleet movements, lead safety-first operations and drive continuous improvement across depot activities.

You will manage risk assessments, coaching of the team, and liaison with Fleet Control and contractors to ensure high standards of safety and performance in a complex rail environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in train shunting and driving operations in a rolling stock or depot environment.
• Knowledge of rail safety, risk management, and operational compliance in a depot/yards setting.
• Experience using SAP and SES maintenance systems.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and promote a safety-first culture with compliance to HSE, rail safety, quality and environmental requirements.
• Coordinate movement, allocation and positioning of the QNGR fleet across the depot.
• Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, inspections and investigations with risk controls.
• Coach, mentor and support team members to foster accountability and continuous improvement.
• Oversee shift operations, including pre-start briefings, field verifications and handovers.
• Liaise with Fleet Control, Production Management, contractors and stakeholders for seamless depot operations.
• Support fleet availability by coordinating train movements for maintenance, testing, service delivery and project activities.
• Monitor depot infrastructure, equipment and standards to sustain a safe, efficient environment.
• Drive productivity and continuous improvement in processes and movements.
• Ensure team members have required competencies, training and qualifications.
