Job summary

Bowen Rail Company is seeking an Operations Supervisor (Training) to lead safety-focused training and competency programs for Train Crews in Queensland. You will develop training plans, oversee assessments, and collaborate with senior operations staff to ensure consistent, compliant outcomes.

The role requires HVAC-like leadership and hands‑on delivery, with a 7/7 FIFO roster or 5 on/5 off residential options in Bowen. Strong communication and a current licence are essential.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Train Driving and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
• SARC - Safely Access the Rail Corridor (nationally accredited).
• Experience as a Registered Trainer Assessor delivering nationally accredited train driving units is desirable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and professional presentation skills.
• Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and systems).
• Availability to work a 7/7 roster covering day and night shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Current Class C driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety leadership and competency assurance for Train Crew and Trainee Train Crew.
• Develop, facilitate and maintain training plans delivering classroom and on-the-job training.
• Coordinate competency assessments and due-date scheduling.
• Collaborate with Operations Superintendents to ensure reliable outcomes.
• Coach and mentor trainees to build safety capability and performance.
• Track KPIs and support investigations with accurate records.
• Develop and review training programs and competency policies.
