Job summary

Bowen Rail Company is seeking an Operations Supervisor (Training) to lead competency and training across our Rail Operations team. You will verify competencies, develop training packages, deliver classroom and on-the-job training, and manage assessments under approved documentation.

This role offers a 7 on/7 off FIFO roster (Townsville, Rockhampton, Mackay, Cairns) or 5 on/5 off Residential in Bowen, with strong focus on safety leadership, coaching, and performance reporting to drive reliable

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Train Driving and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
• SARC qualification (Safely Access the Rail Corridor).
• Experience in an equivalent position; desirable: Registered Trainer Assessor.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and professional presentation skills.
• Computer proficient (Microsoft Office and systems).
• Availability to work a 7/7 roster covering day and night shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Current Class C driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Safety leadership — set the standard for safety at Bowen Rail Company, embedding hazard identification, risk evaluation and risk control.
• Competency assurance — ensure Train Crew and Trainee Train Crew are competent to perform rail safety work and comply with Rail Safety Standards.
• Training plans — develop, facilitate and maintain individual training plans that deliver on business goals.
• Assessment scheduling — coordinate Train Crew and Trainee Train Crew to complete competency assessments on or before due dates.
• Stakeholder collaboration — work with Operations Superintendents to deliver consistent assessment outcomes.
• Coaching and mentoring — coach and mentor train crew and trainees to build safety capability.
• Performance reporting — track training needs analysis KPIs and support investigations with accurate records.
