Job summary

Pacific National in Australia’s rail freight sector seeks a Reliability Engineering Manager to lead the Bulk & Coal team, with locations in Melbourne, Newcastle or Townsville.

You will build a capable fleet engineering group, develop reliability strategies, analyse performance, lead RCA/RCM/FMEA, optimise maintenance strategies and collaborate with OEMs and stakeholders to improve asset availability and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• A degree in Engineering with mechanical, electrical or mechatronic discipline or equivalent experience.
• Significant experience in reliability engineering, asset performance or maintenance optimisation.
• Experience leading and developing technical or engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of reliability methodologies including RCA, RCM and FMEA.
• Experience using data analytics to identify trends and drive improvements.
• Understanding of asset management frameworks and whole-of-life asset optimisation.
• Strong stakeholder engagement across engineering, maintenance, operations and external partners.
• Commercial acumen with a focus on asset performance and cost control.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of fleet engineers with a strong safety and continuous improvement culture.
• Develop and implement locomotive reliability strategies, standards and governance.
• Analyse fleet performance, failure trends and reliability data to identify improvements.
• Lead RCA, defect elimination and reliability initiatives to improve availability.
• Partner with maintenance and operations to optimise strategies and extend asset life.
• Collaborate with OEMs, suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and deliver improvements.
• Provide leadership, reporting and insights to support strategic decisions and cost optimisation.
• Drive innovation through data analytics and predictive maintenance practices.
