Job summary

Pacific National in Sydney is seeking a Service Delivery Manager to lead the Coal Planning team, guiding a seasoned group, shaping service delivery and ensuring safety-first decisions across a large rail network.

You will report to the Regional Planning Manager – Coal and drive improvements using data, coaching leaders, and building strong partnerships with Planning, Operations, Commercial and Maintenance. This role offers growth within a national freight operation.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in operational service delivery within rail, heavy transport or logistics.
• Ability to lead through others, coach leaders and build a positive, collaborative culture.
• Strong problem-solving skills in a dynamic operating environment.
• Demonstrated safety mindset and commitment to delivering for customers.
• Experience using performance data to drive operational improvements.
• Solid business partnering skills, aligning teams around shared priorities.
• Knowledge of complex rail operations is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach five Service Delivery Superintendents, supporting a broader team of approximately 50 people.
• Guide complex operational decisions, helping teams respond to disruptions and manage changes to the service plan with safety at the forefront.
• Identify network constraints and opportunities to improve service reliability, efficiency and delivery against customer contracts.
• Use performance data to drive improvements in systems, processes and ways of working across Queensland and New South Wales.
• Build strong partnerships across Planning, Operations, Commercial, Customer and Maintenance teams.
• Create an engaged, accountable team culture and develop future leaders through coaching and succession planning.
