Job summary

Regional Group Australia is seeking a Quarry Geologist to manage exploration programs, develop geological models, assess rock quality and support mine planning across its eastern Australian sites.

The role involves geotechnical risk assessment, site and office work, collaboration with operations teams and travel across eastern Australia with an initial base in Sydney. A strong geology background and GIS skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Geology, Mine Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years in surface extractive industries (quarrying/mining).
• Experience with GIS applications (QGIS, ArcGIS).
• Competent in common Office software.
• Valid and current Class C driving licence.
• Numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work within a team.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage quarry exploration programmes using internal and external capabilities.
• Supervise drilling campaigns; perform logging and sampling to update subsurface understanding.
• Review data to produce geological models; evaluate rock quality and risks; coordinate testing.
• Collaborate with Quarry Managers for design and mine planning to ensure safe, efficient operations.
• Update and maintain geological and spatial data for sites.
• Undertake reserve and resource assessments; update ledger of reserves and resources.
• Conduct geotechnical inspections, audits and slope stability assessments; advise on risks.
• Provide geotechnical and quarry development advice to Operations and wider team.
