Job summary

Regional Group Australia seeks a Quarry Geologist to join our Exploration & Geoscience team. Based in Sydney with travel across eastern Australia, you will plan exploration, build geological models, assess rock quality, and support mine planning and safety.

You will collaborate with Quarry Managers and operations teams, maintain site geological data, review reserves and resources, and contribute to geotechnical risk management across our quarries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Geology, Mine Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in surface extractive industries (quarrying or mining).
• Experience with GIS applications (QGIS, ArcGIS).
• Competent with common Office software and a valid Class C driving licence.
• Strong numerical, analytical, problem solving and observation skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and teamwork ability.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage quarry exploration programmes using internal/external capabilities.
• Supervise drilling campaigns and logging to update subsurface understanding.
• Update geological models, evaluate rock quality and plan sampling/testing.
• Provide quarry design and mine planning services with operations teams.
• Maintain geological and spatial data for sites and update reserves ledger.
• Undertake geotechnical inspections and slope stability assessments.
• Offer geotechnical and quarry development advice to operations.
• Collaborate with Quarry Managers to ensure safe, efficient operations.
