Job summary

MAAS Group in Sydney seeks a capable geologist/mining specialist to plan and manage quarry exploration, oversee drilling campaigns, and develop geological models to support safe and efficient operations. The role involves collaboration with operations teams and external stakeholders across multiple sites.

The position offers travel across eastern Australia, a balance of office and site work, and an initial base in Sydney with prospects to relocate after training and probation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, Mine Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 2 years in surface extractive industries (quarrying or mining).
• Experience with GIS applications (QGIS, ArcGIS).
• Proficient with common Office software.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage quarry exploration programmes.
• Supervise drilling campaigns and geological logging/sampling.
• Update geological models and assess rock quality and risks.
• Collaborate with Quarry Managers on design and mine planning.
• Maintain geological/spatial data for sites.
• Undertake reserves/resources ledger upkeep.
• Geotechnical inspections and slope stability assessments.
• Provide geotechnical and quarry development advice to Operations.
