Job summary

Regional Group Australia seeks a Quarry Geologist to oversee exploration, modelling and rock quality assessments across our eastern Australia sites. You will plan drilling, interpret data, and support mine planning to ensure safe, efficient operations.

The role involves cross-site collaboration, travel across eastern Australia, and a balance of office and on-site work. The position is based in Sydney initially with potential relocation to other regional offices after training and probation.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Geology or related field.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in surface extractive industries (quarrying/mining).
Experience with GIS applications (e.g. QGIS, ArcGIS).
Competent in common Office software.

Responsibilities

Plan and manage quarry exploration programmes using internal and external capabilities.
Supervise drilling campaigns and logging to update subsurface understanding.
Review data to produce geological models; evaluate rock quality and risks.
Collaborate with Quarry Managers to provide quarry design and mine planning services.
Update and maintain geological and spatial data for sites.
Undertake reserve and resource assessments and maintain ledger.
Conduct geotechnical inspections and slope stability assessments; advise operations.
Provide geotechnical and quarry development advice to operations and wider team.
