Job summary

Regional Group Australia is seeking a Quarry Geologist to manage exploration, geological modelling, and mine planning across eastern Australia. The role combines office-based data analysis with site visits, offering travel across regions and a mix of field and desktop work.

Based in Sydney with possible relocation to other locations after probation. The successful candidate will hold a Geology degree and 2+ years in surface extractive industries, with GIS proficiency and strong communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Geology, Mine Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in surface extractive industries (quarrying or mining).
• Proficiency with GIS applications (e.g. QGIS, ArcGIS) and common Office software.
• Valid Class C driving licence.
• Strong numerical, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage quarry exploration programmes using internal and external capabilities.
• Supervise drilling campaigns and conduct logging and sampling to update subsurface conditions.
• Produce geological models, evaluate rock quality and risks, plan sample testing, and advise on mineral quality.
• Collaborate with Quarry Managers on quarry design and mine planning to ensure safe, efficient operations and compliance.
• Update and maintain geological and spatial data for all sites.
• Undertake reserve/resource assessments and maintain the reserves/resources ledger.
• Conduct geotechnical inspections, audits and slope stability assessments; advise on risk management.
• Provide geotechnical and quarry development guidance to Operations and wider teams.
