Job summary

Capture Recruitment Pty is seeking an experienced trade qualified Maintenance Fitter for a well established manufacturing operation based in Preston. This hands-on role covers production machinery, breakdowns, preventative maintenance and machine setting.

You will set and adjust machinery, repair pumps, gearboxes, bearings and hydraulics/pneumatics, and work with production operators to minimise downtime on a rotating day, afternoon and night roster.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as Fitter/Turner or Mechanical Fitter.
• Experience setting and changing over production machinery.
• Experience in manufacturing/industrial environments.
• Strong fault-finding and breakdown maintenance.
• PM and routine servicing experience.
• Experience with pumps, gearboxes, hydraulics and pneumatics.

Responsibilities

• Set, adjust and change production machinery to suit products.
• Maintain and repair pumps, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, motors and rotating equipment.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Collaborate with operators to minimise downtime during changes.
• Complete mechanical breakdown repairs.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and servicing.
• Fault-find and identify root cause of equipment failures.

The Role

• Set, adjust and change production machinery to suit different products and production requirements
• Maintain and repair pumps, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, motors and rotating equipment
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems and associated components
• Work closely with production operators to complete machine adjustments, changeovers and repairs while minimising downtime
• Complete mechanical breakdown repairs across production machinery and plant equipment
• Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance, inspections and servicing
• Fault find mechanical issues and identify the root cause of equipment failures

About You

• Australian recognised Fitter and Turner, Mechanical Fitter or equivalent trade qualification
• Proven experience setting, adjusting and changing over production machinery
• Demonstrated experience working as a Maintenance Fitter within manufacturing or industrial environments
• Strong breakdown maintenance and mechanical fault finding experience
• Solid preventative maintenance experience across mechanical plant and equipment
• Experience working with pumps, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, hydraulics and pneumatics
• Able and willing to work a rotating day, afternoon and night shift roster
