Job summary

Core Talent in Dandenong, VIC, is seeking a trade-qualified Maintenance Fitter for a permanent day shift role in a high-speed can manufacturing operation. You will keep production moving with preventative maintenance, breakdown response, and continuous improvement.

You’ll diagnose faults, repair machinery, maintain conveyors and pumps, and work with a collaborative maintenance team to minimise downtime and maximise equipment reliability.

Qualifications

• Trade-qualified Maintenance Fitter with experience in manufacturing.
• Strong fault finding and breakdown repair skills.
• Experience with preventative maintenance and reliability improvements.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on production machinery and plant equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and respond to breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Dismantle, inspect, repair and reassemble machinery and components.
• Maintain conveyors, motors, pumps, compressors and pneumatic systems.
• Support equipment modifications and reliability improvements.

We’re recruiting a Maintenance Fitter to join an established, high-speed can manufacturing operation in Dandenong. This is a permanent opportunity where your mechanical skills will play a key role in keeping production running safely, efficiently and reliably.

The opportunity
This is a hands‑on maintenance role offering a mix of preventative maintenance, breakdown response, mechanical repairs and continuous improvement. Working closely with production operators and the wider maintenance team, you’ll help minimise downtime, improve equipment reliability and maintain production targets.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Performing preventative and corrective maintenance on production machinery and plant equipment.
• Diagnosing mechanical faults and responding to breakdowns to minimise production downtime.

To be successful, you'll ideally have:

• Maintenance Trade Certificate.
• Experience in manufacturing, preferably within a high-speed or continuous production environment.
• A solid background in preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs and mechanical fault finding.
• Good working knowledge of mechanical systems, including motors, pumps, conveyors, compressors and air systems.
• The ability to assess problems, prioritise repairs and work effectively under production pressure.
• A strong commitment to workplace safety, product quality and continuous improvement.
• Confidence working independently and as part of a broader maintenance and production team.
