Job summary

Cordwell's Group in Queensland seeks a skilled Boilermaker to fabricate, weld, repair and maintain fixed and mobile plant across quarry, concrete and transport operations.

You will read technical drawings, perform MIG/TIG/stick welding, oxy cutting, and ensure safety compliance with WHS requirements while delivering reliable plant performance.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Boilermaker) held or near-completion.
• Demonstrated welding, fabrication and mechanical repair experience.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Strong safety awareness and WHS compliance.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Construction White Card (QLD) and ability to meet medical/fitness requirements.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, weld, repair and maintain structural components, plant equipment and machinery.
• Perform MIG, TIG, stick welding, oxy cutting and general metalwork to required standards.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and job instructions.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and complete accurate repair documentation.
• Collaborate with supervisors, operators and maintenance personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Fabricate, weld, repair, and maintain structural components, plant equipment, and machinery.
• Perform MIG, TIG, stick welding, oxy cutting, gouging, and general metalwork to required standards.
• Conduct inspections, diagnose faults, and identify repair needs.
• Fabricate and install guards, chutes, brackets, frames, and other operational components.
• Repair and maintain crushers, screens, conveyors, hoppers, agitator components, and quarry plant.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and job instructions.
• Operate workshop tools and equipment safely (grinders, welders, presses, drills, etc.).
• Maintain clean, organised, and safe work areas.
• Complete job cards, maintenance records, and repair documentation accurately.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors, operators, and maintenance personnel.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Boilermaker).
• Demonstrated experience in welding, fabrication, and mechanical repair.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Strong safety awareness and compliance focus.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Construction White Card (QLD).
• Ability to meet Cordwell’s Group medical and fitness requirements.

Desirable:

• Experience in quarry, concrete, or heavy industrial environments.
• High Risk Work Licence (e.g., forklift, EWP, dogging).
• Confined Space and Working at Heights training.
• Mechanical aptitude for plant maintenance.
• Experience with crushers, conveyors, screens, and heavy plant.

Additional Requirements

This role involves manual handling, working in noisy or high-activity environments, and occasional travel between sites. Flexibility for overtime, weekend work, and call-outs is required.
