Job summary

Southern Steel QLD is seeking a skilled Boilermaker to join our Wacol Branch. You will fabricate, assemble and install steel structures, and perform repairs on trailers and processing equipment.

Expertise in welding (MIG/TIG/Stick) and fabricating steel is essential. Candidates should be able to read drawings, work safely, and collaborate effectively with the team on high-profile projects in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Trade-certified boilermaker with relevant certification.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
• Experience operating heavy machinery and welding equipment.

Responsibilities

• Fabricating and assembling steel structures according to specifications and blueprints.
• Welding, cutting, and shaping steel materials using MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques.
• Inspecting and repairing steel structures and machinery.
• Adhering to industry safety standards and maintaining a safe working environment.

About the Role:

You will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing steel structures, conducting repairs to Semi-trailers and processing equipment. Your expertise in welding and metal fabrication will be key to ensuring the safety, integrity, and efficiency of the projects you’ll be working on.

Key Responsibilities:

• Fabricating and assembling steel structures according to specifications and blueprints.
• Welding, cutting, and shaping steel materials using MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques.
• Conducting inspections and performing repairs on steel structures and machinery.
• Adhering to industry safety standards and ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
• Collaborating with the team to meet project goals and deadlines efficiently.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Trade qualified boilermaker (Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Boiler making);
• Ability to interpret technical drawings;
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality;
• Experience working with heavy machinery and in challenging environments;
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a cohesive team.
