Job description

Purchasing, Procurement & Inventory Manager — Building Manufacturing

Dynamic Modular Constructions – Picton NSW

Dynamic Modular designs, manufactures and installs modular, prefabricated, portable buildings to custom requirements. Our clients include some of the largest mining, commercial, construction and infrastructure companies, alongside Government Departments and agencies, and many of the portable building hire companies.

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Purchasing Officer to manage procurement of building materials, oversee stock levels, and coordinate logistics across our manufacturing operations. This role is central to keeping our production line supplied on time and on budget — you'll be the link between suppliers, our ERP system, and the production teams relying on materials arriving when needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Source and purchase building materials (steel, cladding, insulation, fixtures, and related products) from approved suppliers at competitive pricing
  • Place purchase orders accurately and in line with the manufacturing Production Program and stock requirements
  • Proactively chase outstanding orders, follow up on delayed deliveries, and resolve supply issues before they impact production or project timelines
  • Monitor and manage stock levels — with support of Stores Officer, who reports to this role, conduct regular stock takes, identifying shortages or excess, and maintaining accurate inventory records .
  • Use our online accounting/ERP system to monitor the Production Program and anticipate stock level requirements ahead of need
  • Enter all purchase orders and receipt goods accurately and promptly through the online system
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics, including freight, delivery scheduling, and liaising with transport providers
  • Liaise with customers ahead of delivery to ensure sites are ready, and detail what is required to take delivery of the building/s
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and lead times with suppliers; build and maintain strong supplier relationships
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, purchase order logs, and supplier documentation
  • Work closely with production and project management to forecast material needs and avoid stockouts or overordering
  • Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes, reduce costs, and improve supply chain reliability
About You
  • Proven experience in a purchasing/procurement role, ideally within building materials, construction, or manufacturing
  • Good understanding of the construction and assembly processes.
  • Tech-savvy, with hands-on experience using online accounting/ERP systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of stock/inventory management principles
  • Experience placing, tracking, and following up on purchase orders, and receipting goods through an online system
  • Solid grasp of logistics coordination — freight, delivery scheduling, transport liaison
  • Confident liaising directly with customers on site-readiness and delivery requirements
  • Excellent negotiation and supplier relationship management skills
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Comfortable using ERP/purchasing software and Excel
  • Clear, confident communicator, able to manage multiple suppliers and priorities at once
  • A proactive, problem-solving approach — someone who chases things down rather than waiting for updates
  • Existing relationships with building materials suppliers/distributors
  • Experience in manufacturing, construction or building supplier industry
  • Forklift license or warehouse experience
