Job summary

VEX is a Mackay-based, family-oriented company seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters for site and workshop work in mining and heavy industrial operations. You will handle pumps, crushing, sizing and gearbox maintenance, with a focus on reliability and safety across multiple projects in Queensland.

Qualifications

• Experience with pumps, crushers, screens and related equipment.
• Maintenance and overhaul of pump and gearbox systems in heavy industrial/mining environments.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical faults and perform repairs on site or in workshop.

Responsibilities

Pump, Crushing, Sizing & Gearbox Fitters Full-Time | Site and Workshop Based | Competitive Rates | Immediate Start

VEX is seeking experienced and motivated Mechanical Fitters to join our growing team. We are looking for tradespeople with strong experience in pump, crushing, sizing, and gearbox maintenance across mining and heavy industrial operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Inspection, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of pumps, crushers, screens, and associated equipment.
• Diagnosis and rectification of mechanical faults.
• Gearbox rebuilds, alignment, and installation.
• Shutdown, breakdown, and planned maintenance activities.
• Ensuring all work is completed safely and in accordance with site and company requirements.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

Applicants should have demonstrated experience with:

PUMPS

• Warman pumps
• KREBS pumps
• Metso pumps

CRUSHING & SIZING EQUIPMENT

• ABON crushers
• McLanahan crushers and sizing equipment

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

• Gearbox repairs and rebuilds
• Bearing installation and replacement
• Shaft alignment and precision measurement
• Working within mining and processing plant environments
