Job summary

Dowdens Pumping and Water Treatment seeks a skilled Pump Fitter / Mechanical Fitter to service pumps, stations and water treatment systems across Mackay and Bowen Basin. Field-based role with hands-on mechanical work and problem-solving to ensure reliable operations.

Based from our Mackay head office (no FIFO). A company vehicle, PPE, uniforms, meals and accommodation are provided. Trade qualification or pump experience, reading drawings, and own tools are essential.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification preferred – Fitter/Mechanical Fitter/Plumber/Electrician or equivalent.
• Technician with pumps and pumping equipment experience.
• Current manual drivers licence is required.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and manuals.
• Supply own hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair pumps, pumping equipment and pipelines.
• Troubleshoot and carry out routine maintenance and repairs on pumping and water treatment gear.
• Contribute to manufacture, install and maintenance of pump stations and transfer sites.
• Collaborate with team to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues.
• Record servicing information, photos and documentation.

As part of the Dowdens Pumping and Water Treatment Industrial Workshop, our Infield Tradespersons keep pumps, pump stations and water treatment systems running efficiently throughout the Mackay and Bowen Basin.

Working directly in the field rather than a fixed workshop; installing, servicing and repairing equipment on‑site, combining hands‑on mechanical skill with practical problem‑solving abilities to provide the best outcome for all.

Based from our head office in Mackay (no FIFO option available) this role is perfect for a Tradesperson who enjoys the flexibility and opportunity to work on a wide range of pumping and water treatment products and projects throughout the Mackay and surrounding regions whilst continuing to broaden their experience and capabilities!

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair pumps, pumping equipment and pipelines
• Troubleshoot and conduct routine maintenance and repairs to pumping and water treatment equipment
• Contribute to the manufacture, install and maintenance of pump stations, pontoons and transfer stations
• Collaborate with the team to efficiently troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues
• Recording of servicing information, photographs and other documentation relevant to the job
• Trade Qualification preferred – Fitter / Mechanical Fitter / Plumber / Electrician OR;
• Technician experienced with pumps and / or pumping equipment
• Current manual Drivers Licence
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, manuals and parts information
• Supply own hand tools

Desirable, but not essential

• Machinery / Operator / Poly Welding competencies
