Job summary

Thiess is recruiting a Project Planner for the Eva Copper Mine Project in North West Queensland. Based on site, you will manage on-site construction planning, ensuring alignment with engineering, procurement, and construction teams.

You will report to the Technical Services Manager and contribute to a major greenfield copper operation while supporting safe, efficient execution and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Proven experience +5 years in engineering planning and scheduling on bulk earthworks and infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of planning and project management methodologies.
• Background in large multi-disciplinary projects with milestone and dependency management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare schedule data for proposal or contract negotiations
• Establish schedule for a specific discipline area
• Develop WBS, workflow logic, and job expenditure
• Maintain critical path schedule reports and performance metrics
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and mitigate
• Provide forecasting, reporting, and performance analysis
• Develop planning input for Power BI reports

About The Role

Thiess is currently recruiting a Project Planner based in our Eva Copper Mine Project.

This role is being offered as amax-term contract until December 2028, providing a great opportunity to be part of an exciting new project!

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will provide onsite construction engineering surveillance and management of subcontractors ensuring the safe execution of the Project.

Key responsibilities in this role will include:

• Prepare schedule data for proposal or contract negotiations
• Establishes and maintains the schedule for a specific discipline area or speciality
• Performs schedule development duties to include establishing the work breakdown structure (WBS), determining the workflow logic ties, and developing the required job expenditure
• Assists with maintenance of critical path schedule reports and schedule performance metrics
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to align timelines and resources.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Provide accurate forecasting, reporting, and performance analysis to stakeholders.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and planning best practices.
• Develop timely and efficient planning input and analysis for other project reporting tools such as Power BI reports.

About You

• Proven experience (+5 years) in engineering planning and scheduling on bulk earthworks and infrastructure projects
• Strong knowledge of planning and project management methodologies.
• Background in large, multi-disciplinary engineering projects where milestone and dependency management are critical.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Relevant qualifications in engineering, project management, or a related field
• Strong personal computer skills including Primavera P6 and MS Office suite)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey project information to project stakeholders
• Organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, take direction, and provide direction to others to ensure the quality of deliverables
