Job summary

Thiess is seeking an experienced Training Coordinator to join the Eva Copper Mine Project in North West Queensland. You will coordinate all functional safety and training on site, maintain records and reports, and ensure compliance with Learning Management System data and site training plans.

Key requirements include Certificate IV Trainer Assessor, strong admin skills, and experience with large sites and heavy equipment.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing a large site with complex Training needs analysis.
  • Strong administrative skills and experience using online training systems.
  • Certificate IV Trainer Assessor.
  • High level computer literacy and ability to map training packages to competencies.
  • Experience with heavy earthmoving equipment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate site gate competency compliance and records.
  • Manage course bookings, inductions, and on-site training.
  • Lead Training Specialists and Crew Trainers across the site.
  • Maintain Learning Management System data and reporting.
  • Create and maintain site training plans and TNAs.
  • Develop proficiency-based training outcomes and new-to-industry engagement.
  • Organise training activities while meeting legislative and Thiess requirements.
  • Coordinate Emergency Response Team training.

Job description

The Eva Copper Mine Project is located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People in North West Queensland, approximately 75 km north-west of Cloncurry and about 95 km north-east of Mount Isa.

The Project is an iron-oxide copper-gold resource featuring multiple open pits and is poised to become the largest greenfield copper mine in Queensland.

The opportunity

Are you enthusiastic and driven with a passion for Training and compliance? Thiess is seeking experienced and motivated Training Coordinator to join our high-performing team at the Eva Copper Mine Project in the Cloncurry region of Queensland, Australia.

As a key member of the Eva Copper Alliance team, you’ll be responsible for coordination of all functional safety and training issues on site including the maintenance of relevant records and reports.

Roster: 5:2 | Location: Eva Copper, QLD | Employment Type: Permanent

As the Training Coordinator, you will:

  • Assist with the management of site gate competency compliance
  • Manage course bookings, onsite training and inductions
  • Manage a team of Training Specialists and Crew Trainers across the site
  • Manage the site data to ensure compliance with the Learning Management System
  • Create and maintain site training plans
  • Maintaining the site training needs analysis (TNA) to identify gaps between current skill, competency levels and required skill levels in consultation with key stakeholders
  • Develop, implement and maintain site training plans with a focus on proficiency-based training outcomes
  • Develop, implement and maintain site training plans with a focus on “new to the industry” engagement
  • Organise training activities while ensuring adherence to all legislative and Thiess requirements
  • Coordination of Emergency Response Team training
About you

To be successful in this role you will require the following:

  • Experience in managing a large site, complex Training needs analysis
  • Strong administrative skills and experience using online training systems
  • Certificate IV Trainer Assessor
  • High level computer literacy
  • Ability to map training packages to recognised competencies (particularly RII packages)
  • Experience with heavy earthmoving equipment (Dump truck, Watercart, Grader, Dozer, Loader, Excavator, Rope Shovel) and/or a Mining Maintenance background will be an advantage
