Job summary

Thiess is seeking a Civil Supervisor to join the Eva Copper Mine Project in North West Queensland. This max-term contract runs through to October 2027, with a 2:1 roster at Eva Copper, 75 km north-west of Cloncurry.

You will report to the Civil Superintendent and lead daily activities to meet targets while maintaining high safety standards. The role requires a minimum of 5 years in a similar supervisory position, with preferred crushing operations experience and strong plant/equipment knowledge.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar supervisory role.
• Previous crushing operations experience (highly desirable).
• Strong understanding of plant and equipment operational best practices.
• Current Australian Driver's Licence.
• Construction Industry White Card.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct the day-to-day activities of the workforce to achieve operational and production targets.
• Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with Health, Safety and Environmental Management Plans and statutory requirements.
• Effectively manage procurement and allocation of plant, equipment, materials, and resources.
• Verify personnel are trained, competent, and authorised to perform tasks, arranging further training as needed.
• Conduct risk assessments and JSAs prior to work and review them regularly.
• Drive a strong safety culture through leadership and continuous improvement.

The opportunity

Thiess will provide specialist civil construction services at Eva Copper a greenfield mine in North West Queensland, located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People, 75 kilometres north of Cloncurry and 95 kilometres north-east of Mount Isa.

Reporting to the Civil Superintendent, you will be responsible for leading and supervising daily operational activities while promoting a safe, productive, and high-performing work environment.

As the Civil Supervisor, you will:

• Lead and direct the day-to-day activities of the workforce to achieve operational and production targets
• Ensure all work is undertaken in strict accordance with project and contract Health, Safety and Environmental Management Plans, statutory requirements, company policies, and industry quality standards
• Effectively manage the procurement and allocation of plant, equipment, materials, and resources to support operational requirements
• Verify that personnel are appropriately trained, competent, and authorised to perform allocated tasks, ensuring additional training or reassignment is undertaken where required
• Conduct and facilitate risk assessments, including Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), prior to the commencement of work and review them regularly for ongoing activities
• Drive a strong safety culture through visible leadership, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives

About you

To be successful in this role you will require the following:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar supervisory role
• Previous crushing operations experience (highly desirable)
• Strong understanding of plant and equipment operational best practices, with a focus on achieving production targets safely and efficiently
• Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety
• Proven ability to plan, prioritise, and coordinate activities and resources
• Current Australian Driver's Licence
• Construction Industry White Card
