Job summary

Saab Australia is seeking a Project Officer to support the Project Manager with day-to-day administrative tasks and deliver performance analysis across Defence projects including SEA8000 and related upgrades. You will track metrics, analyse performance, and collaborate with functional leaders to drive improvements.

Applicants must be Australian citizens and able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of administrative experience in a project environment (essential) in Defence industry (preferable).
• Strong planning, analysis and communication skills.
• Excellent administrative skills with understanding of project life cycle, documentation and standards.
• Awareness of earned value management principles (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager with day-to-day tasks and administration to achieve project goals.
• Manage delivery of performance analysis tasks ensuring scope, cost, schedule and quality adherence; propose improvements.
• Track and report progress of key performance metrics, identifying trends and issues.
• Analyse operational performance using Excel, Tableau, Power BI to provide insights.
• Work with functional leaders to understand performance influences and provide detailed insights.
• Identify performance gaps and support development of corrective actions.
• Gather lessons learned and participate in feedback sessions to improve processes and tools.

Job description

Saab Australia is an industry participant in the Combat Systems Integration – Integrated Project Team (CSI-IPT) Collaboration Agreement (CSI-IPT CCA). The CSI-IPT CCA forms a collaborative enterprise organisation to execute scopes of work across Hobart Class Destroyer (SEA4000 Phase 6 and other related Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) upgrades) and the Hunter Class Frigates (HCFs - SEA5000 Phase 1). This will see independently executed programs such as SEA4000 Phase 6 and SEA5000 Phase 1 brought under one umbrella enterprise organisation, the CSI-IPT.

The CSI-IPT will be built up with personnel from three industry participants and the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA) to form a collaborative team working across multiple programs to leverage synergies between platforms.

The Project Officer will support and collaborate the Project Manager with day-to-day project tasks and administrative functions to ensure efficient achievement of project and operational goals.

Further, the successful candidate will:

Managing the delivery of performance analysis tasks, ensuring adherence to scope, cost, schedule, and quality requirements, while recommending and supporting the implementation of improvement strategies.

Track and report on the progress of key performance metrics, identifying trends and highlighting any issues or delays.

Analyse operational performance using the tools and methods provided (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI).

Work closely with functional leaders to understand performance influences and provide detailed insights based on data analysis.

Assist in identifying performance gaps and support the development and implementation of corrective actions.

Gather lessons learned and participate in feedback sessions to contribute ideas for process improvement, tools and enhance project performance.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

2 – 5 years of administrative experience in a project environment (essential) in Defence industry (preferable).

Strong planning, analysis and communication skills.

Excellent administrative skills, coupled with a general understanding of the project life cycle, project documentation, project standards and methodologies.

Awareness of earned value management principles (desirable).

Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level.
