Job summary

MacKellar is growing its partnership with Aeris Resources on a developing mining project near Nyngan, NSW, and we’re seeking an experienced Mining Engineer to join our team. You’ll work with mining and operations teams on short-term planning, scheduling, mine design and Drill & Blast activities.

This role offers an 8/6 roster, FIFO from Brisbane, meals and accommodation, a competitive salary and a long-term opportunity to contribute to ongoing mine planning, design and operational optimisation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering – Mining or Civil.
  • Experience as Mining Engineer in open-cut mining.
  • Strong understanding of mine planning, scheduling and design.
  • Experience working closely with mining operations.
  • Understanding of Drill & Blast planning and optimisation.
  • Strong analytical, planning and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to communicate technical information clearly to operational teams.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach to mine planning.

Responsibilities

  • Developing short-term mine plans, designs and schedules to meet operational and contract requirements.
  • Working with operations to develop practical and achievable plans, schedules and designs.
  • Delivering plans and schedules to operational personnel.
  • Monitoring progress against plan and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Supporting mine design and scheduling activities.
  • Planning, optimising and monitoring Drill & Blast activities.
  • Building strong working relationships across mining, operations and technical teams.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and operational optimisation.
  • Ensuring engineering activities align with safety, quality and production requirements.

About the Role

As a Mining Engineer, you’ll work closely with the operations and technical teams to develop practical plans and schedules that support safe and efficient mining operations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing short-term mine plans, designs and schedules to meet operational and contract requirements
  • Working with operations to develop practical and achievable plans, schedules and designs

What You’ll Bring

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Bachelor of Engineering – Mining or Civil
  • Previous experience working as a Mining Engineer in open-cut mining
  • Strong understanding of mine planning, scheduling and design
  • Experience working closely with mining operations
  • Understanding of Drill & Blast planning and optimisation
  • Strong analytical, planning and problem-solving skills
