Job summary

MacKellar Group in Blackwater region is seeking an Excavator & Ancillary Maintenance Supervisor to lead a high-performing team responsible for maintaining the site’s excavator and ancillary fleet. You will drive reliability, safety and compliance while delivering quality maintenance outcomes on a major mining operation.

You’ll report to the Maintenance Superintendent, coordinate daily activities, mentor tradespeople and coordinate planned and unplanned work.

Qualifications

• Experience in a mining maintenance supervisory role.
• Extensive knowledge of excavator and ancillary equipment maintenance.
• Current Australian Driver Licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily maintenance activities across excavator and ancillary equipment.
• Supervise tradespeople, contractors and maintenance personnel.
• Drive a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with site procedures.
• Plan and coordinate scheduled maintenance, shutdowns and breakdown response.
• Monitor equipment performance, reliability and fleet availability.
• Work with planning and operations to optimise maintenance outcomes.
• Coach, mentor and develop the maintenance team.
• Manage maintenance quality, productivity and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure accurate completion of maintenance records and reporting.

About the Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, you'll lead a team of tradespeople responsible for maintaining the site's excavator and ancillary fleet. You'll ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standard while supporting equipment reliability and operational performance.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and coordinating daily maintenance activities across excavator and ancillary equipment
• Supervising tradespeople, contractors and maintenance personnel
• Driving a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with site procedures
• Planning and coordinating scheduled maintenance, shutdowns and breakdown response
• Monitoring equipment performance, reliability and fleet availability
• Working closely with planning and operations teams to optimise maintenance outcomes
• Coaching, mentoring and developing your maintenance team
• Managing maintenance quality, productivity and continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensuring accurate completion of maintenance records and reporting

About You

You're an experienced maintenance leader who thrives in a fast-paced mining environment and understands what it takes to keep heavy equipment operating safely and reliably.

To be successful, you'll have:

• Previous experience in a mining maintenance supervisory role
• Extensive knowledge of excavator (Liebherr highly regarded) and ancillary equipment maintenance
• Strong leadership, communication and team management skills
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement
• Experience coordinating planned and reactive maintenance activities
• Current Australian Driver Licence
• Trade qualification in a relevant mechanical discipline (highly regarded)
• Strong planning, problem-solving and decision-making abilities
