Job summary

Nufarm is seeking a Senior Project Engineer (Mechanical) to lead end-to-end CAPEX projects, providing expert design and technical leadership within the PMO. Based at Laverton North, you will drive scoping, design, cost estimation and execution plans for capital initiatives, mentoring junior staff and coordinating with maintenance teams.

You will apply rigorous Safety in Design, contribute to HAZOP/LOPA studies, and oversee tendering, contractor management and project delivery to optimise asset

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualified in Mechanical Engineering with manufacturing equipment design experience.
• Strong data-based decision making and problem-solving approach.
• Ability to lead and mentor in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end CAPEX projects from concept to commissioning and handover.
• Oversee mechanical equipment design, static and rotating equipment, piping and vessels.
• Tendering, contractor selection and management of construction activities.
• Prepare scopes of work, procurement, tender documents and bid evaluation.
• Apply Safety in Design principles and contribute to process safety studies (HAZOP, LOPA).
• Drive asset reliability improvements and lifecycle cost optimisation.
• Deliver safe, efficient project execution within budgets and timelines.
• Champion continuous improvement and best-practice standards across operations.

Based in Laverton North at our Pipe Road chemical manufacturing facility, we're looking to engage a Senior Project Engineer with mechanical specialisation within our Project Management Team. In the role you will be accountable for the activities and coordination of the project scoping, preliminary and detail design, cost estimation and execution plan of capital projects and act as subject matter expert in your field providing advice to Maintenance and the PMO. This role will have direct leadership experience with direct reports and mentoring.

HowYou'llHelp Us Grow

• Lead end-to-end CAPEX projects, from concept and design through to commissioning, handover and operational success.
• Good knowledge of mechanical equipment, plant and equipment design (static equipment, pressure vessels and piping, rotating equipment) and relevant standards.
• Experienced in tendering, contractor selection and construction management activities, including preparing and issuing scopes of work, procurement and tender documents and evaluating technical bids
• Experience applying Safety in Design principles and contributing to HAZOP, LOPA, hazardous area classification and other process safety studies, Management of Change (MOC) and pre-startup safety reviews
• Drive smart engineering solutions by providing technical expertise, optimising asset performance and minimising total lifecycle costs.
• Manage contractors, budgets and timelines to deliver projects safely, efficiently and on schedule.
• Champion continuous improvement, reliability and best-practice standards through innovation, RCA and process optimisation.
• Make a real impact by ensuring compliance, supporting process safety initiatives and delivering sustainable improvements across operations.

Could This Be You?

You'reTertiary qualified in Engineering(Mechanical)andbring extensive experience in manufacturing equipmentdesign, technical support,project delivery ofsmall tomedium-sizeprojects will be highly regarded. You have a strong scientific approach to solving problems, the ability to make data-based decisions, and you'recomfortable working in a team environment with a high degree of initiative and self-motivation.
