Job summary

Sunshine Coast Council is seeking a Project Manager in the Urban Growth Projects Branch to lead large urban development initiatives that shape the region’s future. You will guide projects from planning through to delivery, balancing economic growth with environmental and community outcomes.

You will manage multidisciplinary teams, provide strategic advice to senior stakeholders, and foster strong relationships with government bodies, developers and communities.

Qualifications

• Planning professional qualifications and eligible for PI Australia membership.
• Proven ability to lead major urban development projects.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

About The Role

The Urban Growth Projects Branch partners with the community, investors, government and key stakeholders to lead sustainable urban growth across the Sunshine Coast. The team is at the forefront of delivering projects that support one of Australia's fastest-growing regions, helping create connected communities, vibrant activity centres and long-term economic prosperity while balancing environmental and community outcomes.

As Project Manager, you will provide leadership, strategic advice and professional direction on major urban development projects that influence the future of the Sunshine Coast. This is an exciting opportunity to lead complex, high-profile initiatives, work closely with a diverse range of stakeholders and help deliver sustainable growth outcomes that align with Council's vision of being Australia's most sustainable region.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage major urban development and growth management projects from planning through to implementation.
• Develop innovative planning solutions that integrate economic, environmental, engineering and community outcomes.
• Provide expert advice, reporting and recommendations to senior leaders, stakeholders and decision-makers.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams, consultants and stakeholder relationships to successfully deliver project outcomes.

This position is based at Sunshine Coast City Hall, in the heart of Maroochydore CBD. This state of the art and sustainable building is designed to achieve an innovative and collaborative workspace.

About You

• A Planning Professional: you hold qualifications in Town Planning and are eligible for membership with the Planning Institute of Australia. You bring strong technical expertise and a passion for shaping sustainable communities.
• A Proven Project Leader: you have successfully delivered large, complex urban development projects and understand how to navigate competing priorities while achieving strategic outcomes.
• A Strong Stakeholder Manager: you excel at building relationships, influencing outcomes and collaborating with government agencies, developers, consultants and community stakeholders.
• An Inspiring Leader and Communicator: you bring exceptional leadership, communication and report-writing skills, with the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams and provide trusted advice to senior decision-makers.
