Job summary

Whittens is recruiting a Project Manager on a FIFO roster to lead a large-scale FRP tunnel construction project in New South Wales.

You will manage client and site interfaces, build a high-performing safety-focused team, and ensure delivery to programme, cost and quality targets.

This is a permanent long-term opportunity offering career development within a family-owned civil contractor.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of project management experience in FIFO civil contracting.
• Experience with large-scale FRP tunnel infrastructure projects ($50–$100M).
• Tertiary qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Experience managing a direct self-perform workforce.

Responsibilities

• Build and retain key interface relationships with client, site teams and leadership.
• Deliver project by building a high-performing, safe and sustainable team.
• Determine construction methods, materials, quality standards, and draft specifications.
• Prepare and submit notifications to the client as required.
• Organise, plan and manage direct site labour and workforce planning.
• Assess costs, and measure, value and negotiate variations with Commercial.
• Ensure compliance with contract notices and manage subcontractors.
• Identify and support emerging leaders and facilitate development plans.
• Track and produce accurate cost tracking data and weekly reviews.

About The Role

We are recruiting a Project Manager on a 2/1 or 5/2/4/3 FIFO roster to lead and manage a large scale self-perform FRP / complex tunnel construction project in NSW.

Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Build on and retain key interface relationships with Client, site teams and Whittens leadership.
• Deliver project by building a high performing safe and sustainable team to achieve project objectives
• Determine construction methods, materials and quality standards, and drafting and interpreting specifications, drawings, plans, construction methods and procedures.
• Prepare and submit notifications to the Client as required.
• Organise, plan and manage direct site labour and ensure effective workforce planning.
• Assess costs, and measuring, valuing and negotiating variations in consultation with the Commercial team.
• Ensure strict compliance with contract notices and management of subcontractors in strict compliance with agreements.
• Identify and support emerging leaders and facilitate upskilling and development plans.
• Track and produce accurate cost tracking date including holding weekly project reviews

ABOUT YOU:

• Tertiary Qualifications in Civil or Structural Engineering - Preferred
• At least 10 years+ Project Management experience in a similar FIFO role with a Civil Contractor
• Experience in large scale FRP Tunnel Infrastructure Projects ($50-$100M) - A must
• Demonstrated experience in managing a direct self-perform workforce
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Superior time and priority management skills
• Confidence in managing a range of different relationships throughout the business and on site with our client
• Demonstrate Commercial Acumen and be a Visible leader to create safe and collaborative work teams
