Job summary

CAPDA Consulting seeks an experienced Project or Program Manager to support a Defence and National Security engagement in Canberra. You will lead planning, governance and delivery of complex Defence projects and programs in a high-profile stakeholder environment.

Ideal candidates have 8-10+ years in defence program management, strong governance knowledge, ability to brief senior Defence and industry stakeholders, and current NV1 security clearance or higher.

About the Opportunity

CAPDA Consulting is seeking an experienced Project or Program Manager to support a Defence and National Security engagement based in Canberra.

This role will operate within a complex and high-profile stakeholder environment, leading the planning, governance and delivery of projects and programs that contribute to critical Defence capability outcomes. Working closely with Defence personnel, industry partners and senior decision-makers, you will be responsible for driving delivery, managing strategic risks, and ensuring project objectives are achieved in accordance with Defence governance and assurance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, governance and delivery of complex Defence projects and programs.
• Manage project scope, schedule, risks, issues and dependencies.
• Develop and maintain project plans, reports, briefs and governance documentation.
• Monitor project performance and provide strategic reporting and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Facilitate governance activities, including meetings, reviews and decision-making forums.
• Engage and collaborate with stakeholders across Defence, Government, industry and delivery teams.
• Support capability acquisition, sustainment and delivery activities as required.
• Contribute to assurance, compliance and reporting activities in accordance with established governance frameworks.

What You'll Bring

• Demonstrated experience delivering outcomes within CASG, CIOG, Force Design, Capability Life Cycle or major Defence program environments.
• Strong understanding of Defence governance, approvals, procurement and assurance frameworks.
• Experience briefing and influencing senior Defence, APS and industry stakeholders, including SES, One Star and equivalent leadership levels.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage delivery across complex stakeholder environments.
• Experience managing substantial project budgets, schedules, risks, dependencies and reporting obligations.
• Strong commercial acumen and experience working with Defence industry partners and subcontractors.
• Current NV1 Security Clearance or higher.
• Minimum 8-10+ years' experience in project and/or program management within Defence or National Security environments.
• Demonstrated experience delivering capability acquisition, sustainment, ICT, engineering or complex infrastructure programs.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and governance experience in Defence environments.
