Job summary

Snowy Hydro is seeking a Project Improvement and Efficiency Manager for the Snowy 2.0 team in Cooma, NSW. You will partner with the Deputy Project Director, site teams and main contractors to identify bottlenecks, streamline processes and mitigate schedule risks to hit COD safely.

You bring heavy industry experience (civil engineering with MEP installation) and a proven ability to drive change, lead initiatives and extract actionable insights from construction data to improve productivity.

Qualifications

• Experience in heavy industry or construction (civil engineering with MEP installation).
• Experience in power generation or large-scale infrastructure, especially hydropower.
• Proven ability to manage procurement, construction, and commissioning workflows.

Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for generations. Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the iconic Snowy Hydro‑electric Scheme, gas and diesel electricity generating plants, and contracted wind and solar energy in the National Electricity Market. Snowy 2.0, currently under construction, is Australia's largest committed renewable energy project. It is key to the renewables transformation providing 2,200mw installed capacity and 350Gwh of storage.

About the position

We are looking for a Project Improvement and Efficiency Manager to join the Snowy 2.0 team based out of Cooma.Working directly with the Deputy Project Director, you’ll partner with the Snowy Hydro owner's team and our main contractors to spot bottlenecks, streamline processes, and eliminate schedule risks across multiple work fronts. Your ultimate goal? Helping us hit our Commercial Operation Date safely and successfully.

Key Responsibilities

• Finding the Wins: You'll dive into construction data, shift reports, and project schedules to identify and quantify opportunities for better productivity.
• Building Genuine Relationships: You'll be out there working closely with site teams, subject matter experts, and project managers. You’ll use your flexible interpersonal style to get everyone on the same page and working as "one team".
• Driving the Change: It’s not just about coming up with ideas; it’s about making them happen. You will influence stakeholders, champion new initiatives, drive their implementation and track their success on the ground.
• Solving Complex Puzzles: You’ll use your analytical skills to adapt initiatives as project circumstances change

About the location

This role is located at our Project Head Office in Cooma, NSW. We could look at either a Monday to Friday FIFO arrangement, or relocation to the area.

About you

To thrive in this role, you need a mix of sharp analytical skills and a genuine knack for people. You aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves and have honest, constructive conversations at the site level.

Your Background

You bring solid experience in heavy industry or construction (civil engineering with MEP installation is highly preferred). Experience in power generation or large-scale infrastructure (especially hydropower) will put you at the top of the list.

Your Commercial Smarts

You understand the lifecycle of procurement, construction, and commissioning, and have navigated the commercial dynamics between clients, main EPC contractors, and subcontractors.

Your Toolkit

You are highly proficient with project management software and know how to extract the real story from complex construction data and drawings.

Your Superpower

You are a natural influencer. You know how to communicate the "why" and the "benefits" of a change so that stakeholders actually want to jump on board.
