Job summary

General Mills Australia seeks a Project Engineer to lead capital and plant-improvement projects at the Rooty Hill site, from feasibility through to handover. You will drive safe, reliable, and financially responsible solutions that boost site capability and performance.

The role requires a university degree in Engineering and 3–5 years of project delivery experience in a manufacturing environment, with strong collaboration across technical and operational teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• 3–5 years’ experience in an engineering or project delivery role.
• Experience delivering capital or plant-improvement projects in an operating plant.
• Experience with project scope, scheduling, cost estimation, budget control, forecasting, risk management, change control, procurement and closeout.
• Experience coordinating vendors, contractors or engineering consultants through installation, commissioning, testing, start-up and handover.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, layouts, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specifications and technical documentation.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing or process industries and food safety principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead moderate-complexity capital and plant-improvement projects through the project delivery process.
• Develop scopes, requirements, schedules, budgets and risk plans.
• Coordinate design, tendering, procurement and vendor documentation.
• Manage contractors and suppliers during installation, including safety, quality and schedule requirements.
• Lead commissioning, start-up, training, and handover.
• Support capital planning with feasibility assessments and prioritisation based on safety and cost impact.
• Provide technical engineering support through structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis.
• Work cross-functionally to align priorities and deliver project outcomes.
