Job summary

L3Harris IMSA is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support delivery of the Maritime Navigation Display System program across naval vessels and submarines. The role involves managing engineering documentation, ensuring safety case compliance, and coordinating across disciplines while upholding WHS obligations.

The position may require occasional travel to customer sites and offers exposure to high-visibility defence programs within a dynamic team environment in Fremantle.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in an Engineering or Scientific discipline.
• 5+ years of Senior Engineering experience in project/systems engineering.
• Experience leading a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Experience with supplier/sub-contractor management.
• Knowledge of ASDEFCON and EVM processes.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Clearance at NV1 level.

Responsibilities

• Oversee production and delivery of engineering documentation and system products across the project lifecycle in line with the Contracted Data Requirement List (CDRL).
• Ensure WHS obligations are met and manage safety case to certify system compliance with contract and regulatory safety requirements.
• Coordinate across multiple disciplines and manage a team of engineers.
• Occasional travel to customer sites.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support successful delivery of all engineering activies within the Maritime Navigation Display System Program across multiple Naval Surace Vessel Classes and Submarines. Day to day duties include, but are not limited to; manage and oversee the production and delivery of supporting engineering documentation and products/system across the project lifecycle, in accordance with the defined Contracted Data Requirement List (CDRL) and/or agreed engineering deliverables. Ensuring L3Harris IMSA WHS obligations are met. Manage and oversee the safety case that certifies system compliance with contract and regulatory safety requirements.

Occasional travel to and from customer sites will be required.

About you

• Tertiary qualifications in an Engineering or Scientific discipline
• Knowledge of Maritime and Naval platforms desirable
• 5+ years' or more experience practicing in a Senior Engineering position within the Project/Systems Engineering discipline fields.
• Experienced in managing a team of engineers across multiple disciplines
• Supplier/sub-contractor relationship management experience
• ASDEFCON and EVM process knowledge
• Ability to hold and maintain an Australian Defence Clearance to a NV1 level
