Job summary

Scalzo Foods in Melbourne is seeking a Project Engineer to manage strategic and day-to-day project planning and engineering initiatives. Focus areas include capital automation, process reengineering, and new product line design and automation/expansion activities.

A typical day involves identifying efficiency opportunities, controlling budgets and schedules, coordinating tasks, and liaising with stakeholders to deliver timely project outcomes.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated project engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of FMCG manufacturing operations within project environments.
• Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, operations, quality, procurement and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Identify problems or opportunities to increase manufacturing and operations efficiency.
• Oversee budgets, schedules, plans and project status reporting.
• Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor assigned engineering projects.
• Engage daily with internal stakeholders to interpret needs and represent them in projects.
• Review engineering deliverables and implement corrective actions.
• Communicate major project updates to management.

We are on the hunt for a highly self-motivated and curious Project Engineer to join our Melbourne team.

You will be responsible for managing both the strategic and day to day project planning and engineering initiatives. The majority of the projects will be focused on capital automation, process reengineering, new product line design and automation/expansion activities.

A normal day in the role of the Project Engineer includes:

• Identifying problems or opportunities to support the increased efficiency of manufacturing and operations
• Performing overall quality control (budgets, schedules, plans) and report regularly on projects status
• Preparing, scheduling, coordinating and monitoring the assigned engineering projects
• Interacting daily with internal stakeholders to interpret their needs and requirements and represent them in the projects
• Reviewing engineering deliverables and initiating appropriate corrective actions
• Making recommendations of necessary action plans and ensuring accurate and timely reporting standards are maintained throughout projects
• Communicating to management as needed on major projects in the business
• Establishing relationships with operations management to facilitate the coordination and execution of project work
• Monitoring compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications

To be in the running for this role, you should have:

• Demonstrated Project Engineering experience
• Strong understanding of FMCG manufacturing operations and requirements within project environments
• Experience working cross functionally with engineering, operations, quality, procurement and other stakeholders
• Food industry experience is preferred
• A passion for culture!

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
