Job summary

JBS is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to lead capital and engineering projects within a major Queensland manufacturing operation. You will drive delivery from concept to handover, collaborate with maintenance, reliability, operations, safety and senior leadership, and influence investment in plant and infrastructure.

Ideal candidates have an engineering degree and proven experience in heavy industry or FMCG contexts, with SAP PM/CMMS knowledge and strong stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Structural or related discipline
• Experience in manufacturing, food processing, mining, utilities or heavy industry
• Experience managing contractors, OEMs and service providers
• Understanding of project risk management and governance
• Working knowledge of SAP PM or CMMS platforms
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Food processing or FMCG project experience
• Ammonia refrigeration or utilities project exposure
• HAZOP, CHAZOP or Management of Change experience
• Progress towards CPEng or RPEQ
• Experience delivering projects in brownfield environments
• Maintainability-by-design principles

Most Project Engineer roles focus on getting projects finished. This role exists to make sure they're worth finishing.

At JBS Dinmore, you'll be delivering engineering projects across one of Australia's largest and most complex industrial operations. From major equipment upgrades and critical infrastructure improvements to automation, utilities, refrigeration and production assets, your work will directly influence safety, reliability, productivity and long-term asset performance.

You won't inherit a narrow portfolio of small projects and spend your days chasing purchase orders. You will:

• Lead the delivery of capital and engineering improvement projects across a major manufacturing operation
• Influence how millions of dollars are invested in plant and infrastructure
• Work directly with maintenance, reliability, operations, safety and senior leadership teams
• Own project delivery from concept through commissioning and handover
• Drive engineering standards, contractor performance and project governance
• Ensure new assets enter service with complete SAP PM structures, maintenance strategies and documentation
• Help build what good project delivery looks like across the Northern Division engineering network

Who We’re Looking For

We're interested in engineers who have successfully delivered projects in demanding industrial environments and understand that real project success is measured after handover, not at practical completion. You may currently be working as a: Project Engineer, Senior Project Engineer, Capital Projects Engineer, Mechanical Project Engineer, Electrical Project Engineer, Site Engineer, Construction Engineer or Project Delivery Engineer. You will also bring:

• Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Structural or a related discipline
• Experience within manufacturing, food processing, mining, resources, utilities, energy or heavy industrial sectors
• Experience managing contractors, OEMs and engineering service providers
• Strong understanding of project risk management, contractor governance and engineering standards
• Working knowledge of SAP PM or equivalent CMMS platforms
• Strong commercial, communication and stakeholder management skills
• Food processing or FMCG project experience
• Ammonia refrigeration or utilities project exposure
• HAZOP, CHAZOP or Management of Change experience
• Knowledge of AS 4024, AS 1170 and AS/NZS 3000
• Progress towards CPEng or RPEQ certification
• Experience delivering projects in operating brownfield environments
• Understanding of reliability engineering fundamentals and maintainability-by-design principles
• Current driver's licence and Australian work rights
