Job summary

Seymour Whyte Constructions is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to coordinate on-site structural works on the Cressbrook Dam Safety Improvement Project in the Toowoomba Region. You will work closely with stakeholders to ensure works align with plans and programme, and deliver quality outcomes.

Based on a major dam safety upgrade, the role offers strong collaboration, technical challenge, and opportunities to mentor junior engineers while contributing to a high-profile infrastructure

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) required.
  • Experience delivering civil infrastructure projects with structures component.
  • Understanding of client specifications, quality requirements and ITP development.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage on-site structures activities per project plans and programme.
  • Manage subcontractors, labour, plant and site resources to drive productivity and quality.
  • Monitor construction progress, identify risks and issues, support project objectives.
  • Oversee forecasting, cost control, productivity tracking and reporting for commercial outcomes.
  • Prepare, review and maintain project documentation including SWMS and ITPs.
  • Mentor engineers and participate in site meetings and toolbox talks to build a high-performing team.

The Cressbrook Dam Safety Improvement Project is a major dam safety and flood resilience upgrade delivering complex works to critical water infrastructure in the Toowoomba Region. Seymour Whyte, in alliance with SMEC and Toowoomba Regional Council, has been selected to help deliver this flagship project, bringing together construction delivery, engineering expertise and collaborative project leadership on one of Queensland’s most significant local government-led dam upgrades.

The scope includes spillway widening, dam crest raising, berm and spillway re-profiling, right-hand wall strengthening, plunge pool widening and deepening, flip bucket extension, instrumentation upgrades and associated enabling works. It is a rare opportunity to join Seymour Whyte on a technically challenging, high-profile project with major civil, structural, hydraulic and dam safety interfaces, and real long-term community impact.

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join this landmark project and coordinate the delivery of on-site structural works. Working closely with project stakeholders, you will ensure construction activities are effectively planned, managed and delivered in line with project objectives.

Based on site in Biarra, this role offers a generous project uplift, attractive DIDO and LAFHA conditions, and the opportunity to contribute to a major, complex infrastructure project.

About the role:
  • Coordinate and manage on-site structures activities, ensuring works are delivered in accordance with project plans, specifications and programme requirements
  • Manage subcontractors, labour, plant, and site resources to drive productivity and ensure quality outcomes
  • Monitor construction progress, identify risks and issues, and support the successful delivery of project objectives
  • Oversee project forecasting, cost control, productivity tracking and reporting to support commercial outcomes
  • Prepare, review and maintain project documentation including SWMS and ITPs
  • Mentor and develop engineers while contributing to site meetings, pre-starts and toolbox talks to foster a high-performing project team
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil)
  • Demonstrated experience delivering civil infrastructure projects with structures experience
  • Thorough understanding of client specifications, quality requirements and the development of ITPs
  • Experience administering head contracts and subcontract agreements
  • Exposure to contractual claims, variations and project cost management
  • Proven ability to manage project budgets, forecasts and financial performance
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, planning, and stakeholder management
