Job description

Seymour Whyte Constructions – Canberra ACT

We have an opportunity in our Canberra Water team for a Senior Project Engineer with an electrical civil background, to play a key role in the delivery of one of the ACT's most significant water infrastructure projects.

Working on the landmark Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre Upgrade, you'll help deliver complex electrical works that will enhance wastewater treatment capacity and support Canberra's growing population for decades to come. This is an opportunity to be part of a high performing team delivering technically challenging infrastructure, where innovation, collaboration and problem solving are part of the everyday.

From major electrical installations and commissioning activities through to driving project performance, managing key stakeholders and leading critical work packages, you'll have the opportunity to make a real impact while working alongside some of the industry's best. If you're passionate about water infrastructure and enjoy tackling complex engineering challenges, this is your chance to help deliver a project that will leave a lasting legacy for the Canberra community.

Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre

The Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre (LMWQCC) Upgrade is a major wastewater infrastructure project in Canberra, ACT, being delivered for Icon Water under its Major Projects Delivery Program. The project is being undertaken through a joint venture between Seymour Whyte and VINCI Construction Grands Projets, alongside design partner Beca HunterH2O, bringing together expertise in large-scale water and civil infrastructure delivery.

The project involves upgrading and expanding the existing wastewater treatment facility to improve treatment efficiency, increase plant capacity, and support Canberra’s growing population. Key works include the construction of a new membrane bioreactor capable of treating up to 97 megalitres of wastewater per day, along with upgrades to critical treatment systems across the plant. Sustainability is also a key focus, with initiatives including renewable energy use, recycled water during construction, and the reuse of on-site materials where possible.
