Job summary

Gamuda Engineering in Melbourne is seeking a Junior Project Accountant to support our finance and project commercial team on active projects. You will work under the Senior Project Accountant, handling job cost control, invoicing, month-end reporting, and subcontractor claim reviews to ensure accurate financial management and timely closes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce (CPA/CA studies or ambition highly regarded)
• 1–3 years in a graduate, junior, or assistant accountant role within construction, engineering, or project-based corporate environments
• Strong understanding of foundational accounting principles, job cost control, and purchase-to-pay workflows
• Advanced MS Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs) and exposure to ERP/job costing software (e.g., Jobpac, SAP, COINS)
• High numerical accuracy, sharp attention to detail, and a collaborative team mindset

Responsibilities

• Process day-to-day project accounts, including invoice matching, credit card reconciliations, and accounts payable/receivable
• Assist with month-end close, journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, cost-to-complete tracking, and variance reporting
• Support subcontractor payment claim reviews, variation registers, retention tracking, and supplier reconciliations
• Help prepare monthly project cash flow forecasts, financial reporting packs, and audit compliance documentation
• Maintain financial data integrity in ERP systems and ensure compliance with Australian GST, BAS, and corporate governance standards

About the Role

Based in our central Melbourne office, we are seeking a motivated Junior Project Accountant to support our expanding finance and project commercial team.

Reporting to the Senior Project Accountant, you will assist with job cost control, financial administration, subcontractor claims, and month-end reporting across active project operations.
