Verve Partners Pty is assisting a specialist engineering and construction business in Melbourne to recruit an Assistant Accountant. You will own month-end and project accounting, reporting to the Senior Accountant and working with the Financial Controller and project teams.

This broad role provides exposure to how a construction business makes money, with study support towards CA/CPA and clear path for career progression in a growing Victorian operation.

Qualifikationen

• A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• CA or CPA qualification or studying towards it (study support available).
• Ideally 3+ years’ post-graduate experience with month-end independently.
• Construction, contracting or project accounting experience is highly regarded.
• Jobpac experience is a real advantage; SAP/Pronto or similar ERP experience welcome.
• Strong Excel skills and a sharp eye for detail.
• A proactive, self-motivated approach and the confidence to work with project managers and senior stakeholders.

Aufgaben

• Own the month-end close across AP, AR, fixed assets, bank reconciliations and the general ledger, including accruals.
• Work with project managers to set up job budgets and KPIs at project handover, and provide ongoing financial analysis.
• Prepare and record progress claims, and track retentions.
• Maintain the cash flow model, tracking revenue, costs and retentions, and reconciling to the bank.
• Manage debtors, including RCTIs and collections.
• Process weekly site-based payroll in line with EBA requirements.
• Process accounts payable and supplier compliance.
• Maintain the asset register and support the CAPEX and depreciation process.
• Support stocktakes and inventory management.
• Help drive consistent finance processes and systems across the business.

Highly regarded in their industry, our client is a specialist engineering and construction business delivering structural solutions for major building and infrastructure projects. With a strong pipeline of work for the foreseeable future, the business is investing in its finance team to support its Victorian operations through an exciting period of growth.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a capable Assistant Accountant who wants more than a transactional role. Reporting to the Senior Accountant and working closely with the Financial Controller and operational leaders, you'll own month-end and project accounting, and become a trusted point of contact for the project teams. It's a broad, varied role that gives you real exposure to how a construction business runs and makes money, plus the backing to keep developing your career.

What you'll be doing

• Owning the month-end close across AP, AR, fixed assets, bank reconciliations and the general ledger, including accruals

• Construction, contracting or project accounting experience is highly regarded, particularly progress claims, retentions and EBA payroll
• Jobpac experience is a real advantage, though SAP, Pronto or similar ERP experience is also welcome
