Job summary

Bluefin Resources Pty is seeking a Group Project Accountant to provide financial oversight and analysis of project performance across Australia. The role includes managing WIP, forecasting, and cash control for multiple projects with a flexible, hybrid working arrangement in Sydney or Melbourne.

The successful candidate will partner with finance and non-finance stakeholders, ensuring robust financial reporting and adherence to internal standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in project accounting, ideally in a professional services firm (landscape/design/engineering/construction).
• Proven invoicing, managing WIP, forecasting and cash control/accounts receivable skills.
• Experience in a group or multi-entity role managing multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process client, contractor and supplier invoices in line with project terms.
• Set up billing terms for new projects and manage WIP, forecasting and billing schedules.
• Monitor project financial health and identify underperforming projects supporting corrective action.
• Contribute to regular financial reporting, forecasting and variance analysis, and support the annual group budget.
• Produce collection forecasts and support accounts receivable and timely cash collection.
• Maintain compliance with internal financial standards, processes and timesheet requirements.

My client is a purpose-driven, design-led practice in Australia that has a global presence across Asia, UK and the Middle East. They believe in the power of design to positively change people’s lives, the environment and the planet and they’re known for delivering industry-leading projects.

They are looking for a Group Project Accountant to provide financial oversight and analysis of project performance and manage WIP and forecasting for multiple projects across Australia.

Duties will include:

• Prepare and process client, contractor and supplier invoices in line with agreed project terms
• Set up billing terms for new projects and manage WIP, fee forecasts and billing schedules
• Monitor project financial health and identify underperforming projects supporting corrective action
• Contribute to regular financial reporting, forecasting and variance analysis, and support the annual group budget
• Produce collection forecasts and support accounts receivable and timely cash collection
• Maintain compliance with internal financial standards, processes and timesheet requirements

About you

• Experience in project accounting - ideally in a professional services firm - landscape architecture, design, engineering or construction preferred
• Proven skills in project accounting - project invoicing, managing WIP, project forecasting and cash control/accounts receivable
• Experience in a Group or multi-entity role managing multiple projects
• An effective business partner with the ability to build collaborative and effective relationships with finance and non-finance stakeholders.

This is a permanent role and can be based in either Sydney or Melbourne and offers flexible, hybrid working.
