Job summary

The Victorian Government is seeking a strategic PMO Lead to provide governance, delivery assurance and direction for the Program Management Office, aligning with program objectives and organisational strategy. Hybrid work arrangement supports flexible collaboration.

You will lead governance frameworks, mentor the PMO team, manage risk and stakeholder engagement, and foster continuous improvement in agile practices (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe) to lift program performance.

Qualifications

• Proven track record leading PMO/PCO in large ICT programs.
• Expertise in PMO governance, frameworks, standards and controls.
• Extensive experience with agile delivery (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe).

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the PMO, ensuring alignment with program outcomes.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve governance, methodologies, standards, tools and controls.
• Collaborate with project stream leads to ensure risk registers/logs meet quality standards for governance and audit.
• Lead, mentor and develop the PMO team to drive continuous improvement and high performance.
• Build strong relationships with executive stakeholders and delivery leaders to enable successful delivery.

Role

Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Program Management Office, ensuring effective governance, delivery assurance and alignment with program objectives. Responsible for fostering operational excellence within the program to focus on continually improving efficiency, practices, and agile ways of working to optimise program performance.

Accountabilities

• Provide leadership to the Program Management Office, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and program outcomes.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve program management governance, frameworks, methodologies, standards, tools and controls.
• Collaborates with project stream leads in ensuring that program documentation (including risk registers and logs) meet established quality standards and facilitate effective governance and audit compliance.
• Lead, mentor and develop the Project Management Office team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and high performance.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with executive stakeholders, delivery leaders and business representatives to foster collaboration and successful delivery.

What you'll need to succeed

• Demonstrated experience working as a Program Management Office or Program Control Office Lead in a large ICT program and dynamic agile environment.
• Demonstrated expertise and knowledge of PMO best practice, including delivery frameworks, processes and tools with a practical understanding of how these are applied within a large program.
• Extensive experience operating within complex Agile delivery environments, with strong knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, Scrumban, SAFe or other iterative delivery frameworks.
