The Role

We are seeking to establish a pool of Community Leader Program Coordinators for permanent and fixed term, full‑time and part‑time vacancies which may arise during the 2027 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The school stands on the bank of the Avon River and has a proud and rich history of providing a comprehensive curriculum to students in Years 7 to 12 from the Northam and surrounding Wheatbelt districts. With over 650 students, we are the largest school in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia.

The Role

As the Program Coordinator – Learning Community, you will work collaboratively with the Principal and members of the Senior Leadership team to provide educational leadership within the school and the wider community. You will develop and promote the school’s vision for academic and artistic excellence, encouraging school staff, volunteers, and community members to share ownership of the school’s goals and creative direction.

Suitable applicants should be able to build positive relationships between students, staff, parents, and the local community as they lead a Learning Community which is proactive, innovative, and supportive ensuring successful learning achievement outcomes for a community of students and teachers.

Suitable applicants will ideally display a sound understanding of the multi‑tiered systems of support that includes knowledge of effective intervention strategies across the academic, engagement and wellbeing domains. They should be able to apply their professional knowledge and understanding of these effective strategies to support whole‑child teaching, learning and well‑being within the school community.

As an instructional leader, they will ideally possess the ability to provide direction and purpose to staff, to build and sustain team cohesion and capacity through a focus on quality teaching and promote an environment of positive quality academic learning experiences for all students. Suitable applicants should be able to collaborate effectively with others to sustain a professional strengths‑based culture whereby staff feel supported to share effective teaching and learning practices.

The Program Coordinator – Learning Community role also includes leadership of a curriculum domain. In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead one of the following Learning Areas; Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS), English, Science, Mathematics, The Arts, Technologies, Vocational Education and Training (VET) or our Big Picture Learning Academy. Leadership in these areas may include a range of settings such as Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR), General or Foundation courses, English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD), International Big Picture Learning Credential, literacy/numeracy intervention and/or enrichment programs.
